STCW 95 Proficiency in Elementary First Aid, inc Emergency First Aid at Work

The Elementary first aid course module is a combination of theory and practical training for basic first aid and lifesaving skills. This course is intended for all seagoing personnel who need to be able to practice emergency first aid on board ship. It comprises the knowledge required in STCW 95 Table A-VI/1-3 and provides an introduction to the principles of first aid.

STCW 95 Proficiency in Medical First Aid inc Level 3 First Response Emergency Care


The MCA/STCW recognised and approved Proficiency in Medical First Aid course has been designed with seafarers in mind, although primarily aimed at those responsible for carrying out First Aid duties on vessels that venture up to 150 miles from a safe haven, this course could be extremely useful for any person who takes to sea, either with a crew, or as a lone yachtsman. The course is of 4 days duration and will include both theoretical & practical tuition in the following subjects:

– Scene management

– Resuscitation

– Poisons

– Temperature Extremes

– The unconscious casualty

– Care of the rescued casualty

– Shock

– Medical Emergencies

– Wounds & Bleeding

– Casualty handling

– Burns

– Communications

– Head Injuries

STCW 95 Proficiency in Medical Care inc Level 4 First Response Emergency Care (coming Soon)

This 5 day MCA approved training is intended for seafarers who are designated to take charge of medical care on board ship, in accordance with Regulation VI/4 of the annex to the STCW Convention and Section A-VI/4 (4-6) of the STCW code, and the Merchant Shipping (Training and Certification) regulations 1997. You will need to have completed the Proficiency in First Aid prior to taking this course.
