Portable Appliance Testing or PAT as it’s commonly known, is an electrical safety test of “portable” equipment.
Generally, if it has a plug, it’s portable.
Although there is no legal requirement to carry out PAT, The Health & Safety at Work Etc. Act 1974 puts a duty of care upon the employer or building occupier to ensure the safety of all persons using work premises.
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 states that employers must carry out a risk assessment. A risk
assessment should identify what in your business may cause harm to people i.e. electrical equipment and decide whether you
are doing enough to prevent that harm.
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) requires that equipment provided for work is:
• Suitable for the intended use
• Suitable in this context means the equipment is free from health and safety risks
• Maintained in a safe condition
Our staff are fully accredited and insured to carry out “In-Service Inspection and Testing of “Electrical Equipment” and will ensure that your appliances are safe to use. We will certify your safe items and flag up any defects where our testing indicates that an item is unsafe.
We also carry out minor repairs such as replacing fuses or rewiring plugs where necessary.
A certificate detailing the results of all PAT tests carried out will be issued upon completion, along with testing labels for each item.
How much will it cost?
Minimum call-out charge: £75 – inclusive of up to 30 items tested.
Additional costs per item:
31-50 items: £1.35 per item
51-150 items: £1.25 per item
150 + items: £1 per item
