NEETS Cornwall Compass

Cornwall Training is one of 12 specialist providers working with CSW Compass Project

The young people of Cornwall who are not in Education, Employment or Training NEETS now have dedicated support with the COMPASS Project. The Compass is a partnership of 12 providers across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, led by Cornwall Council and funded by the European Social Fund.

COMPASS will enable Young People, including those with SEND (special education needs and disabilities) and SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) aged 15-24to develop the resilience, employability skills , and labour market intelligence to enable participants to make informed choices around access to education, employment and training based on their interests, skills, abilities and the needs of the labour market.

This will include options participants may not have considered before such as self-employment. Young people will have a sound awareness of their strengths and an understanding of the opportunities available to them to make an informed choice about their future careers.  Alongside this, young people will have a reduced risk of long-term unemployment.

The aim of COMPASS is to offer a flexible, person-centered approach to supporting young people who are NEET (not in education, employment or training) or at risk of NEET with a particular focus on young people for whom SEND (special educational needs or disability) or SEMH (social, emotional, mental health) issues present a barrier to progression.

Our Compass Project ” Due North” will support anyone aged 18-24 to access the support they require to help them get into work. Our programme incorporates a range of dedicated support and training courses.
