Course Body Title
Who is Asbestos Training for?
The course is designed for contractors involved in construction who need an understanding of the possible location of asbestos-based products, and the action that must be taken in the event that they are present. Every employer must make sure that anyone who is liable to disturb asbestos during their normal work, or who supervises those employees, is given the correct level of information, instruction and training, so that they can work safely and competently without risk to themselves or others.
The type of information, instruction and training necessary
Workers and supervisors must be able to recognise asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) and know what to do when they find them in order that they may protect themselves and others.
Asbestos Awareness training is designed to give workers and supervisors the Information and instruction needed to avoid work that may disturb asbestos during normal operations which will disturb the fabric of a building, or any other item which might contain asbestos. It will not prepare workers, or self-employed contractors, to carry out work with asbestos-containing materials. If a worker is planning to carry out work that will disturb ACMs, further information, instruction and training will be needed.
Non-licensed Asbestos Removal course
The course is designed for persons who undertake construction / demolition activities and whose work will involve knowingly disturbing asbestos. Persons requiring this type of training would include those whose work will knowingly disturb ACMs, such as plumbers, carpenters, electricians, maintenance and demolition workers
